Renting a Cedar Hill Park Pavilion? Start Two Weeks Out

Cedar Hill has 22 city parks across 591 acres, and 15 covered pavilions can be rented at parks around the city, plus the Amphitheater at Valley Ridge Park. For an outdoor party in summer, a roof you do not have to put up yourself is worth more than almost anything you can rent.

The part that catches people out is the calendar. Pavilion reservations go through the Parks and Recreation office, and they have to be made a minimum of two weeks in advance. There is no such thing as a same-week pavilion here, so the order of operations matters: pick your date, reserve the pavilion first, and only then build the rental around it. Booking tables before you have a confirmed pavilion is how people end up moving a party into a backyard at the last minute.

Two weeks is comfortable notice for us, and we would rather you use it. When you reserve, write down which park, which pavilion, and the exact hours you have it — those three details are all we need to plan a delivery window that puts everything in place before your first guest arrives. A pavilion usually comes with some fixed picnic tables, but rarely enough for the headcount you actually invited. Count what is bolted down, then rent the difference; that is the cheapest order you will ever place with us.

Cedar Hill also draws visitors from well outside the city. Cedar Hill State Park is the second most visited state park in Texas, with almost 2 million visitors a year, and Joe Pool Lake is right there. If your event is anywhere near either one on a warm Saturday, give yourself extra room in the schedule for the load-in rather than cutting it close to your start time.

When the weather or the season pushes you indoors, the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center has 5,400 square feet of space used for weddings, receptions and birthday parties. How the Rental Works

There are two ways to get your order. Pickup at our DFW lot is free, always — tables fold flat and chairs stack, so a modest party fits in a mid-size SUV with the seats down. Or we deliver, priced by your location, which is the right call for a pavilion event or any setup where you would rather not spend the morning driving back and forth.

A 25% deposit reserves the date and the equipment; the rest is due at delivery or pickup. Everything is cleaned and sanitized after each event before it is stacked and counted for the next one, so what shows up at your party is ready to seat guests without a wipe-down from you first.
